Both residents and visitors consider San Anselmo a great place to live for its charming downtown, mild climate, antiquing options, and strong sense of community. But families know that another factor is just as good: San Anselmo’s schools. From the time that the San Francisco Theological Seminary was relocated to San Anselmo in 1892 to now, education has been a strong emphasis in the town, and that emphasis shows in the high ratings of its schools.
Students in San Anselmo are served by two public school districts, with Ross Valley School District covering elementary and middle school students and the Tamalpais Union High School District covering students at Sir Francis Drake High School. All the schools in these districts are recognized for their quality, with Tamalpais Union High School District boasting the designation of California Distinguished School for all three comprehensive high schools in its jurisdiction.
