San Anselmo is just to the north of Ross (and 20 miles north of San Francisco) between Fairfax and San Rafael in Marin County. San Anselmo is only a short distance away from Highway 101 and facing south gives you a grand view of Mount Tamalpais.

Hikers will find a variety of locations enjoyable to visit, including nearby Muir Woods, Mount Tamalpais State Park and Samuel P. Taylor State Park. There are several hiking routes, biking trails and campgrounds that showcase the beauty of San Anselmo. The types of parks range from very developed with creative playgrounds to natural, untouched areas of woods, hills, flowers and views. You can get around San Anselmo by biking, walking or driving. Whether you feel like having a sunset picnic overlooking a creek or playing Frisbee in a grassy meadow, San Anselmo is full of places that make walking and biking an enjoyable way to get around.

Avid golfers do not have to worry about access to their favorite sport. In fact, golfers find visiting San Anselmo a real treat. Just 13 minutes away is San Geronimo Golf Course, the host of the San Anselmo and Corte Madera Annual Golf Tournament. This outstanding golf course was voted by Golf Digest as one of the best places to play golf three years in a row. The great community of San Anselmo is always finding new ways to support the locals who live here and the many visitors to this charming town. The town even provides free holiday parking in downtown San Anselmo after Thanksgiving. Most shops, restaurants and cafes are in downtown San Anselmo along San Anselmo Avenue, west of Sir Francis Drake High School.
